Accounts Payable Officer

We are seeking an experienced Accounts Payable Officer to join a well-established organisation within the aged care sector for a 3-month contract based at Head Office in Melbourne. This is a part-time opportunity, with flexibility to work across 3 - 4 days during standard business hours. The role is fully onsite and will see you working closely with a full-time Accounts Payable Officer, reporting directly to the Finance Manager and CFO. This position is suited to a confident and capable AP professional who can hit the ground running in a fast-paced, highly regulated residential aged care environment.
Key Responsibilities
- End-to-end Accounts Payable processing (full AP lifecycle)
- Accurate and timely processing of invoices
- Managing vendor relationships and responding to queries
- Monitoring and managing corporate credit card reconciliations
- Following up with internal stakeholders regarding outstanding invoices and approvals
- Liaising with residential aged care homes regarding invoice discrepancies
- Supporting cash flow management and financial planning processes
- Identifying and escalating payment behaviour trends or irregularities
- Ensuring KPIs are met in relation to processing timeframes and accuracy
- Maintaining strong internal controls within a highly governed environment
- Proven experience in full-function Accounts Payable
- Experience within Residential Aged Care (RAC) is highly desirable.
- Alternatively, experience in a highly regulated environment (e.g. government or healthcare)
- Ability to manage high volumes while maintaining accuracy and meeting strict deadlines
- Strong understanding of compliance and financial governance frameworks
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to build rapport across multiple stakeholders
- Proactive problem-solving skills and strong accountability
- Relevant bookkeeping qualifications or CPA studies (desirable but not essential)
