Care Director

Summary of the Position
We’re looking for an experienced and motivated Care Director to join our respected residential aged care community. This position is ideal for someone ready to step into a meaningful leadership role where resident wellbeing and high-quality care are the priority. You will guide clinical practice, support and develop the care team, and ensure strong standards across assessment, planning, and service delivery. It’s an excellent opportunity for someone who values collaboration, enjoys leading others, and is passionate about driving continuous improvement within aged care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide leadership and support to the care team, ensuring high-quality, person-centred care is delivered consistently.
  • Oversee daily clinical operations, including assessments, care planning, documentation, and resident reviews.
  • Foster a positive and professional team culture through coaching, guidance, and ongoing development opportunities.
  • Support the management of clinical risk, incidents, and feedback, ensuring timely follow-up and continuous improvement.
  • Work collaboratively with residents, families, healthcare professionals, and internal teams to deliver holistic, resident-focused care.
  • Assist with funding and assessment processes (such as AN-ACC) by supporting reviews, documentation, and care planning.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant standards, policies, and regulatory requirements across all areas of clinical care.
  • Contribute to quality initiatives, accreditation readiness, and service improvements alongside the leadership team.
  • Support safe medication practices and infection prevention measures within the home.
  • Promote the organisation’s values by encouraging teamwork, respect, clear communication, and a positive working environment.
Key Requirements
  • Current Registered Nurse (AHPRA) registration.
  • Prior experience in residential aged care OR strong clinical leadership experience in a related health care setting.
  • Strong clinical assessment and care planning skills.
  • Excellent communication, teamwork, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to mentor and support staff across all levels.
  • A commitment to resident-centred care and continuous quality improvement.
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to adapt in a fast-paced environment.
  • Enthusiasm for leading teams and promoting a positive workplace culture.
  • Experience in AN-ACC, ACFI, or aged care compliance.
  • Exposure to accreditation processes, risk management, or incident investigation.
  • Experience in infection prevention and control.
