  • A unique opportunity to oversee a broader, integrated portfolio beyond residential aged care, allowing you to gain valuable exposure across multiple care settings, broaden your leadership scope, and develop experience within a modern, multi-stream model of care.

  • A senior, influential role within a large, well-supported service.

  • The opportunity to genuinely shape clinical standards, culture, and resident outcomes from the ground up.
Summary of the Position
We are seeking an experienced and compassionate Director of Nursing to lead clinical care and nursing services within a large, well-resourced residential aged care environment in South-East Melbourne.

This is a senior leadership role for a Registered Nurse who is passionate about quality, governance, and resident-centred care. As the most senior clinician on site, you will provide strong clinical leadership, guide multidisciplinary teams, and ensure the delivery of safe, high-quality, and compliant care across the service. This opportunity suits a confident clinical leader who enjoys being visible, hands-on, and influential - someone who can balance clinical excellence with sound operational and commercial awareness.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide overall leadership and accountability for clinical care and nursing services
  • Lead, mentor, and support nursing and care teams to deliver safe, evidence-based, person-centred care
  • Ensure compliance with aged care legislation, strengthened quality standards, and regulatory requirements
  • Oversee infection prevention and control, clinical risk management, incident response, and quality improvement initiatives
  • Drive strong clinical governance, accreditation readiness, and continuous improvement outcomes
  • Partner closely with operational leaders to support admissions, occupancy, care planning, and service delivery
  • Manage clinical budgets, staffing levels, care minutes, and resource utilisation effectively
  • Build strong relationships with residents, families, medical practitioners, allied health providers, and external stakeholders
  • Foster a positive, inclusive, and high-performing team culture grounded in respect and accountability
Key Requirements
  • Current AHPRA registration as a Registered Nurse
  • Extensive experience in residential aged care clinical leadership (e.g. Director of Nursing, Clinical Manager, or similar)
  • Strong knowledge of aged care legislation, accreditation, and clinical governance frameworks
  • Proven ability to lead and develop multidisciplinary teams
  • Confidence in clinical decision-making, risk management, and quality improvement
  • Experience managing budgets, staffing models, and care minute requirements
  • Excellent communication, organisation, and stakeholder engagement skills
  • A calm, resilient, and values-driven leadership style
Benefits
  • Salary package of up to $200,000 with performance-based incentives.
  • A unique opportunity to oversee a broader, integrated portfolio beyond residential aged care, allowing you to gain valuable exposure across multiple care settings, broaden your leadership scope, and develop experience within a modern, multi-stream model of care.
  • Strong organisational support, including dedicated Quality, Education, Clinical, and Head Office teams
  • Access to leadership development, training, mentoring, and career progression opportunities
  • A senior, influential role within a large, well-supported service
  • Long-term career stability with pathways into broader executive or operational leadership roles
  • The opportunity to genuinely shape clinical standards, culture, and resident outcomes from the ground up.
